AdventHealth has opened its second location in Palm Coast after almost two years of construction, the hospital announced this week.

The hospital’s staff hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday, officially opening the 158,000-square-foot facility.

Named AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway, the new hospital is located between U.S. 1 and Belle Terre Parkway at 1 AdventHealth Way.

Complementing the hospital is a 30,000-square-foot medical office building that opened in June. Located on the new hospital campus, the facility houses a range of specialized services, including orthopedics, cardiology, surgical, urology, gynecology and gastrointestinal care.

In addition to the 100 new beds that doubles Flagler County’s inpatient capacity and the area’s emergency department services, the new hospital features “state-of-the-art surgical suites, cardiac catheterization labs for heart-related conditions, endoscopy suites for digestive health issues and more,” AdventHealth said in a news release.

What else will be available at the new hospital? Here is what we know:

The new hospital will offer surgical care in several areas, including:

According to a press release, the hospital will offer “innovative endoscopic procedures to treat a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal conditions,” as well as “robotic-assisted surgeries for a minimally invasive approach to more complex procedures, including gynecological and urological procedures.”

It will also feature “specialized suites” for complex orthopedic procedures, such as joint replacements.

With the first signs of a cardiovascular issue, the new AdventHealth offers patients an initial screening to diagnose any number of conditions.

This screening involves:

These tests can diagnose several conditions, including arrythmias, congestive heart failure, heart attack, myocarditis and more.

Treatments for such conditions include:

The new hospital will expand the range of lab services offered at AdventHealth Palm Coast, according to the hospital website.

Some of the lab tests and screening include:

Lab hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Other services include digestive care; hospice care; orthopedic care; sports medicine and rehab care; senior care; imaging services; and home care.

Despite the lack of a birthing center for Palm Coast residents, the new AdventHealth location does not have plans to add labor and delivery services yet, according to AdventHealth spokeswoman Lindsay Cashio.

The reason deals with Palm Coast's demographic makeup.

"Over the past decade, Flagler County has experienced an increase in the number of individuals aged 65 and older," Cashio told The News-Journal last month. "Expanding our services to include a labor and delivery unit would require a substantial increase in the number of young people of child-bearing age in Flagler County, as a unit with low patient volumes could compromise the quality of care."
